O-96 - Choline deficiency lowered serum cholesterol ~15% in deficient men only

O-96 — Consistent with choline/phosphatidylcholine’s role in hepatic VLDL assembly and lipid export; a mechanistic link between choline status and circulating lipids.

Why this is evidence

A ~15% fall in serum cholesterol only in the deficient arm reflects impaired hepatic VLDL/lipid export when choline is withdrawn — a metabolic deficiency sign H-39 (essential) predicts; H-48 (not essential) predicts endogenous synthesis prevents any such derangement.
