Pooled reanalysis of 395 mostly normolipidemic subjects drawn from several earlier controlled-feeding trials, with new APOE genotyping added retrospectively to the existing phenotype/response data. Why this is evidence
The LDL response to dietary cholesterol is genotype-invariant and small, whereas the saturated-fat response is genotype-modulated (O-82). The presence of a modifiable fat response but not a cholesterol one marks fat as the more potent determinant (H-3), demoting cholesterol quantity (H-26).
