Stratified by diabetes status, highest vs lowest egg intake (~4.2 vs ~0.1 servings/week) was associated with CVD among the 615 participants WITH T2DM (HR 2.81, 95% CI 1.25-6.30, p-trend 0.02; 79 CVD cases) but not among the 8,633 WITHOUT T2DM (HR 1.03, 95% CI 0.77-1.38, p-trend 0.8) - a large adverse signal confined to the pre-existing-diabetes subgroup.
