Does a micro black hole, if formed at the LHC, rapidly decay?
statement
Black holes emit thermal radiation at temperature T = hbar c^3/(8 pi G M k_B), i.e. T proportional to 1/M, and evaporate at an accelerating rate as they shrink; if the mechanism holds at the TeV scale, any LHC-produced micro black hole decays in ~10^-27 s, long before it could interact with or accrete surrounding matter.

The load-bearing decay mechanism of the safety case: the “any black hole evaporates before it can do anything” branch rests entirely on this result, extrapolated from the semiclassical regime where it was derived down to the near-Planck/TeV regime where the approximation is weakest.
