In region-stratified meta-analysis, +1 egg/day was associated with lower CVD risk in Asian cohorts (RR 0.92, 0.85-0.99) but was null in US (1.01, 0.96-1.06) and European (1.05, 0.92-1.19) cohorts; geographic region was identified as the main source of the between-study heterogeneity (P for interaction=0.07; within-region I2: US 30.8%, Asia 44.8%, Europe 64.7%).
