Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study (KoGES) community-based cohort, 7,002 Korean adults (3,318 men, 3,684 women) aged 40-69 without T2D at baseline, ~14y follow-up (biennial exams). In men, egg intake of 2-4 servings/week vs <1/week was associated with 40% lower T2D risk (HR 0.60, 95% CI 0.37-0.97); no significant association in women (HR 0.61, 95% CI 0.27-1.37, but CI wide/non-significant so effectively null-to-inverse rather than a true sex difference in direction). A second Korean primary (with Kurotani 2014’s Japan result) anchoring the inverse/null Asia pole. relevance_note: second Asian (Korean) cohort with a statistically significant inverse association in men, reinforcing that the Asia-side finding is not just “null” but sometimes protective.
