Summary: Continuation of the DIABEGG cohort (S-26): 128 of the original prediabetes/T2D participants followed through a 3-month calorie-restricted weight-loss phase (months 3-6) plus 6 months of further follow-up (months 6-12), still split by high- vs low-egg intake (~12/week vs <2/week). Both groups lost similar weight; no between-group differences in glycemia (fasting glucose, HbA1c), traditional serum lipids, inflammatory markers, oxidative stress, or adiponectin over the full 12 months. Authors conclude eggs at ~12/week are safe for people with T2D even during weight loss, beyond current dietary-guideline caps. Relevance_note: Extends the DIABEGG null finding from 3 to 12 months and through an active weight-loss phase — strengthens the PRO-egg/null anchor against the concern that adverse effects might only emerge with longer exposure. Shares its cohort/data-basis with S-26 (same trial, same participants) — not independent evidence, a continuation.
