Companion study to Ginsberg 1994, this time in 13 healthy young women, using a randomised 3-way crossover of 0, 1, or 3 eggs/day (dietary cholesterol 108-667 mg/day), each diet held for 8 weeks. Both LDL-C and HDL-C rose modestly and roughly in parallel with cholesterol dose, so the LDL:HDL ratio changed comparatively little. A cleaner within-sex dose-response than the men’s study, and one of the earliest controlled trials to show the HDL rise is not a female-specific artifact of the men’s study’s fat-quality manipulation. relevance_note: Independent controlled dose-response trial in women showing the parallel LDL+HDL rise pattern — corroborates the average mechanism response and offers a sex-specific data point.
