Summary: Randomized, single-blind crossover trial in 35 adults (mean age 61) at risk of type 2 diabetes (prediabetes/metabolic syndrome), comparing a plant-based diet with 2 eggs/day vs. an exclusively plant-based diet (no eggs), each for 6 weeks with 4-week washout. Egg inclusion did not adversely affect flow-mediated dilation (endothelial function), lipid profile, blood pressure, insulin sensitivity, or anthropometry, and improved selenium and choline intake. A companion paper from the same trial (diet-quality outcomes) is not separately minted. Relevance_note: Disease-population (at-risk-for-T2D) RCT adding a hard-ish surrogate (endothelial function via FMD) beyond the usual lipid/glycemic panel, with a null/favorable result for eggs — broadens the outcome coverage of the PRO-egg/null side.
