28,024 older Chinese adults without baseline CVD, Guangzhou Biobank Cohort Study (recruited 2003-2008), 9.8-year average follow-up (275,343 person-years); 2,685 all-cause and 873 CVD deaths. High egg consumption (≥7/week) vs low (<1/week) showed no significant association with all-cause mortality (HR 1.08, 95% CI 0.93-1.24), CVD mortality (HR 0.99, 0.76-1.27), ischemic heart disease (HR 0.92) or stroke (HR 0.88). The paper’s own embedded dose-response meta-analysis (pooling this cohort with others) found a modest protective association of ≥7 eggs/week with stroke (HR 0.91, 95% CI 0.85-0.98).

relevance_note: An independent null anchor from an older, southern-Chinese urban cohort distinct from Kadoorie/China-PAR — keeps the Chinese-cohort pool from collapsing to a single dataset.
