30,835 adults (ages 16-110, 25 provinces), China Family Panel Studies (CFPS), median 8.1-year follow-up, 1,651 all-cause deaths. Relative to non-consumers, moderate (3-6 times/week, HR 0.84, 95% CI 0.72-0.97) and high (≥7 times/week, HR 0.82, 95% CI 0.69-0.98) egg intake were associated with lower all-cause mortality; 1-2 times/week showed no significant association (HR 0.95). Limitations: self-reported diet, family-recall death ascertainment, no cause-specific mortality, residual confounding from unmeasured dietary/cooking factors.
relevance_note: An independent, nationally-representative Chinese replication of a nonlinear “moderate/high better than none” shape, complementing China-PAR’s U-shape from a different cohort infrastructure. NOTE: a companion CFPS-based paper (Wang/Zhou et al., Nutrition Metabolism & Cardiovascular Diseases 2022, ~20,688 participants, CVD-incidence endpoint, also finding a protective association) shares this same underlying CFPS data basis and was found via the same search — not separately minted, see this searcher’s orientation note exclusions.
