Prospective dynamic Mediterranean cohort of 14,185 Spanish university graduates (SUN Project), egg intake by 136-item validated FFQ categorized as no/<1, 1, 2-4, >4 eggs/week, median follow-up 6.1 years, 91 confirmed incident CVD cases (MI, revascularization, or stroke). No association was found between egg consumption and CVD incidence (HR 1.10, 95% CI 0.46-2.63, highest vs lowest category), adjusting for age, sex, energy intake, Mediterranean-diet adherence and other CVD risk factors; the null held across sensitivity analyses. Small event count (91 cases) limits precision. relevance_note: A null Southern-European anchor, genuinely independent of both the Harvard and pan-European EPIC data bases, though underpowered (wide CI).
